<2023-01-27T03:56:08.000Z> TheEternalBungholio: Ah, Moe Tucker. Gotta confess, I never was too keen on The Velvet Underground. Their music just didn't hit with me quite like others from their era. Funny thing is, she's now become a boomer conservative.
<2023-01-27T04:21:48.000Z> kuon@nicecrew.digital: Same tbh, I was always told "Loaded" was one of the greatest albums ever but when I got around to it I was like "Wait, is this it?". The song she sung while in The Velvet Underground, "After Hours", I do like a lot, though.Roger Daltry is also a neoconservative, unironically supporting America acting as world police despite being British (this is also well before Ukraine, this was in reference to America's actions in the Middle East). I had also always assumed Zappa was just being an ironybro and was left-leaning but I learned recently that he was actually kind of based, he was just also a lolbert. Like, his defense of "jewish Princess" when the ADL went after him for it was literally "People like this actually exist, am I supposed to just not sing about them?".Conversely, Danny Elfman is super lefty now but while in Oingo Boingo he wasn't, so he wrote some pretty reactionary stuff. "Only a Lad" is basically just "Dindu Nuffin", and "Capitalism" was unironic.
<2023-01-27T05:53:37.000Z> TheEternalBungholio: Yep. Frank Zappa was always an edgy atheist libertarian. I like Frank because he wasn't afraid to tell it like it was even when it invited scorn. And yes, "Jewish Princess" is a hilarious number. That it pissed off the ADL and Frank refused to apologize makes me love his work so much more.
