<2022-08-22T16:35:39.000Z> cuchulainn: Hey Super,
<2022-08-22T16:36:03.000Z> cuchulainn: Oh shoot, I was trying to sent a longer text and didn’t mean for that to send so quickly
<2022-08-22T16:48:44.000Z> cuchulainn: Anyway, I wanted to first say how much I appreciate your work, and then ask for prayer and guidance. I’m the guy who’s emailed a few times concerning my girlfriend who is a Mormon, and I wanted to give you some updates. I’ve been reading the Bible with her regularly, and talking with her a lot about solid Christian doctrine. She’s listened intently, and is starting to understand, but it’s been very hard on her. The other night she broke down in tears as she struggles with the idea that everything she’s been taught is a lie. When she was in high school, she had a lot of panic attacks, and apparently some stuff in the Book Of Mormon really helped her overcome it. I don’t know what portions, but I’m going to guess they are the parts he lifted out of the Bible. Now she’s worried that if she rejects the BoM, her panic attacks will come back. I’ve explained to her how the Bible can be trusted (your recent series on Biblical archeology has been very helpful) and how we do have access to literally thousands of years of documents detailing the structure of the church and it’s history, and there is no way the truth of God could be lost until the 1840s. She has literally known nothing but Mormonism, and so learning all of this has been a shock. She recently texted me and said “I hope I wasn’t lied to my whole life and at the same time I do.” The biggest issue is her parents. Her mom is the very definition of overbearing who is clearly worried I’m going to steal her from their church. Her dad is a convert to their church, and she says whenever he explains their doctrine it makes sense, but then when I explain the Bible, that makes sense. She’s trying to get out of her parents house and get a job closer to where I live, but that might be a while. Please pray for her heart, and that she can find a way out of this environment, and come to truly know Jesus. I really love her, and we suited each other so well that it was easy to share anything with her almost immediately, including my political views. Thanks man, I greatly appreciate all you do
<2022-08-22T18:45:44.000Z> SuperLutheran: Absolutely man
<2022-08-22T18:46:26.000Z> SuperLutheran: Sounds like she's going through the same kind of rough time I had when making the switch to Lutheranism tbh. I'm sure with some charity you can help smooth over her concerns.
<2022-08-22T18:47:06.000Z> SuperLutheran: Like, no, she wasn't being lied to her whole life, she was misled by other people who were misled. Jo Smith has been a dead deceiver for 150+ years, y'know?
<2022-08-22T18:47:30.000Z> SuperLutheran: And mormonism didn't help her through those panic attacks. God did, because He loves her!
<2022-08-22T18:48:13.000Z> SuperLutheran: I'll be praying for y'all that it goes well, especially as the family is concerned. Also thanks for the kind words, brother - it's a pleasure to serve C:
<2022-08-23T13:07:49.000Z> cuchulainn: Yeah, I pretty much told her all of this. I'm pretty much going to go through an entire course of apologetics with her. They've found a lot of ways to keep their people in the dark on so many things. They claim that "God the mother" can be found in ancient Hebrew religion, but as far as I can find their sources are a very sloppy compilation of either badly interpreted, cherry-picked, or otherwise insignificant texts. The scholarship is really bad. I'm reading an article now that claims the Clementine Homilies were actual, 100% recording the words of Peter. Their writings are also obsessed with "what were the Jews doing?" Anyway, thanks again. I've got some work ahead of me, but it will be worth it. Once again, your latest series have been an incredible help. God bless.
<2022-08-23T19:10:38.000Z> SuperLutheran: Happy to help dude!
