<2022-06-29T23:12:54.000Z> WoodshopHandman: Hello, brother. Godcast recommended that I reach out to you to ask about advice moving out of state, as you apparently have some experience with the matter
<2022-06-30T00:27:54.000Z> SuperLutheran: Too much experience lol
<2022-06-30T00:28:02.000Z> SuperLutheran: What kind of advice were you hoping for?
<2022-06-30T10:06:45.000Z> WoodshopHandman: Really, I'm just wondering what the optimal sort of timeline is. I'm looking to move from Pennsylvania to Maine and I'm not sure if it's better to try to find a job in Maine while I'm still in PA or if I should save up and move before trying to get hired somewhere, that way I'm actually physically there for interviews and whatnot.
<2022-06-30T10:09:34.000Z> SuperLutheran: It's wisest to have a job lined up waiting for you. Companies hire by distance all the time and often help cover moving costs if you prove valuable enough.
<2022-06-30T10:10:08.000Z> SuperLutheran: Besides, if there is no employment to be had, then you're stuck, potentially for years on end, in a dead end place.
<2022-06-30T10:16:45.000Z> WoodshopHandman: Yeah, that's a fair point that I hadn't considered. Do you have any general tips or advice to give otherwise? I've lived in one area of PA all my life so I'm pretty clueless on all this.
<2022-06-30T12:07:29.000Z> SuperLutheran: Pack early, all nonessential
<2022-06-30T12:07:44.000Z> SuperLutheran: Work out to get ready, lots of carrying exercises
<2022-06-30T12:08:30.000Z> SuperLutheran: If you can, figure out the best deal, whether that's movers or just you renting a van or something
<2022-06-30T12:09:04.000Z> SuperLutheran: This is also an opportunity to look through all your stuff and get rid of crap you don't want anymore.
<2022-11-03T21:35:14.000Z> WoodshopHandman: Hey Super, just talked to Myles and he recommended I ask you: Do you know of any comprehensive guides to the different denomenations in the Christian faith? What their different beliefs are, their practices, etc.? I'm looking for something in very simple language for people that are new to all of this and might otherwise be overwhelmed trying to figure out where they belong
<2022-11-03T21:37:17.000Z> WoodshopHandman: A lot of what I find online doesn't include certain denomenations or it's very heavy on theological lingo for people that are more studied on this sort of thing or it feels like it only mentions surface-level details like whether a denomenation allows female clergy or not.
<2022-11-03T22:09:13.000Z> SuperLutheran: Hm...to be honest anyone out there would have to either read a book surveying all the denominations, or they'd be reading an unsatisfactory, probably biased chart.
<2022-11-03T22:10:06.000Z> SuperLutheran: Not sure there'd be an easily digestible middle ground tbh
