<2022-02-21T11:42:12.000Z> Thysanotus: I have a suggestion for an episode of The Very Lutheran, when you have the time.
<2022-02-21T11:42:48.000Z> Thysanotus: How to support a pastor
<2022-02-21T11:45:04.000Z> Thysanotus: My pastor is having troubles with some things, both regarding our congregation and otherwise. It would be good to know the kind of help that would be especially relevant and appreciated. Thank you for all your work.
<2022-02-21T12:20:06.000Z> SuperLutheran: Ooh, good idea!
<2022-02-21T12:20:39.000Z> SuperLutheran: It might be a short one, but I can devote a good 15 minutes to answering that today
<2022-02-21T13:17:54.000Z> Thysanotus: Thank you, much appreciated.
<2022-02-21T14:53:29.000Z> SuperLutheran: Any time dude!

<2022-02-22T00:54:53.000Z> Thysanotus: That was great, thanks man. Unfortunately I actually don't know a great deal about the specifics of the issues in the congregation, but attendance has dwindled and there are apparently grumblings and rumours.
<2022-02-22T00:57:36.000Z> Thysanotus: Exactly what these are about, I don't know. I suspect it has something to do with his support of a recent church planting, which saw some prominent members of our congregation not being with us in person on Sundays. This, combined with some people thinking this church plant has stretched our funds thin, is what I imagine it is about.
<2022-02-22T01:03:31.000Z> Thysanotus: My family is relatively new to this church, and we're not in the social circles where these sorts of rumours would circulate, so I can only speculate, and I don't want to potentially encourage that sort of gossip by enquiring about it. Our pastor does a great job, and my wife and I always make sure to thank him and talk about the service a bit on Sundays, and my wife has written him a couple of letters and emails thanking him for particularly helpful sermons and counsel he's given us. Thanks for the advice, I pray that whatever is behind this trouble in my church passes quickly.
<2022-02-22T02:32:00.000Z> SuperLutheran: Agreed.
<2022-02-22T02:32:17.000Z> SuperLutheran: It sounds like your pastor needs a real friend these days man
<2022-02-22T04:04:51.000Z> Thysanotus: He does. He's starting a new men's Bible study program at his house soon, I will try to ask him about this after that, since it will be a bit quieter than after the Sunday service.
<2022-02-22T19:16:57.000Z> SuperLutheran: It'd make his day lol
<2022-02-22T19:17:15.000Z> SuperLutheran: I remember trying to set up normal Bible studies, men's programs, etc., and almost no one ever came
<2022-02-23T00:48:56.000Z> Thysanotus: It's a pity, people really do take good, diligent pastors for granted. Hopefully I'll be able to find out exactly what is going on in my congregation and be able to help with it, or at least make sure our pastor knows he has my family's support.
<2022-11-30T01:50:41.000Z> Thysanotus: I have a question, I have seen the accusation made recently that Jordan Cooper of Just and Sinner had something to do with your doxxing and loss of previous pastoral position.
<2022-11-30T01:51:25.000Z> Thysanotus: Is there any veracity to this? If you feel you can't answer for any reason, that is totally fine. Just looking to know if this is a person worth avoiding.
<2022-11-30T02:28:10.000Z> SuperLutheran: He was involved but he denies it of course.
<2022-11-30T02:31:53.000Z> SuperLutheran: And in the unlikely event that he somehow didn't have anything to do with it, his wife was certainly gloating about it the day my doxx came out. So clearly there was football spiking and knowledge of it
<2022-11-30T02:36:39.000Z> Thysanotus: Very disappointing, but not surprising from "conservatives".
<2023-04-20T04:14:39.000Z> Thysanotus: I'm almost done with Pia Desideria, do you have any recommendations for further reading that gives Pietism fair representation?
<2023-04-20T11:19:46.000Z> SuperLutheran: Personally I try to hunt down Hand Nilson Hauge's writings as well for the Scando version of Pietism.
<2023-04-20T11:20:39.000Z> SuperLutheran: Also in America, Georg Sverdrup is pretty important, as he applied Pietism to ecclesiastical structure, thus inventing the Free Lutheran Church model.
<2023-04-21T00:43:51.000Z> Thysanotus: Excellent, thank you very much
<2023-04-21T02:21:01.000Z> SuperLutheran: Happy to be of service!
