<2022-01-29T18:24:53.000Z> SuperLutheran: I always thought this was a goofy, clever idea
<2022-04-04T16:11:47.000Z> SuperLutheran: Forwarded the links to my wife. Thanks!
<2022-04-04T16:13:21.000Z> SuperLutheran: So like, with waterproof Bibles could I read one while diving? Or is it more water resistant?
<2022-04-04T19:05:13.000Z> SuperLutheran: Based
<2022-04-15T02:14:03.000Z> GinNig: SuperLutheran! I have a nonsensical request for the Very Lutheran Project. The Great Inquisitor poem in Dostoyevsky's The Brothers Karamazov. I just finished listening to it, and oh Lord... My brain can't handle it all at once. There was so much going on about so many things and was just wonderful and horrifying and feel like I need to talk to someone, or hear someone I'm familiar with, about this. And you and Myles and Walrus (if he's allowed on the show with the trs stuff) are the only ones I can think to honestly try breaking it down and talking about the atheist stuff, the socialist stuff, the christian stuff, just all the stuff, and not try sparing feelings and be honest with what's there. All the intentional wrongness and the right, the devil's advocacy, the understanding of men, it's alot to try still wrapping my head around. You think you know where he's going with it then NOPE!
<2022-04-15T02:16:06.000Z> GinNig: Just an idea, sir. A masochistic show topic, if you would. Maybe thoroughly sadistic on my end for recommending it as an idea
<2022-04-15T10:55:09.000Z> SuperLutheran: I'll take a look. I generally don't go out of my way to read these authors, but I might be able to offer my takes
<2022-04-15T19:22:41.000Z> GinNig: If you'd like, I can send you the librivox link to it. Thanks to your mentioning listening to the Doctrine of Fascism almost a year ago, I have been well using Librivox
<2022-04-15T21:43:24.000Z> SuperLutheran: I found it in text
<2022-04-15T21:44:06.000Z> SuperLutheran: Thus far it just looks like what he's really getting at is the societal push toward socialism/material based philosophy, especially as the Church adopts it, is no less than apostasy
<2022-04-16T04:58:18.000Z> GinNig: That's in large the point of it. Ivan Karamazov, the brother of our main character, is an atheist and a socialist. He talks about it in the chapter or two before he tells that poem to Alexei
<2022-04-16T05:03:26.000Z> GinNig: Admittedly I was over-excited when I brought it up to you. It kind of reminds me of Myles' statement of "we deserve a better class of villain", in that this fictional socialist of the 1860's is a better and more thought out villain than the sorts we have now. A villain that actually has thought about what he believes rather than just running along with feeling
<2022-05-26T05:48:22.000Z> GinNig: Hey SuperLutheran, I listened to the last episode today and figured I should dm you. I have not gotten into any fight training. My excuse remains that I work mids/nights and like to sleep. To some greater degree there is the element of laziness, I do like to sleep, but I also like not being physically worked before walking into work and standing for 8~ hours. So laziness, time availability, and money, I don't have hardly any money to spend on training working $14 an hour. These are my excuses for not getting into fight training.
<2022-05-26T05:56:13.000Z> GinNig: Also, thank you for leading us in prayer for my dear Anna. I emailed her priest a few days ago and explained my fears as best I could with a translator since I don't speak or read/write their language. She hadn't been to church in over a year, if for other reason than because of covid, but she was getting his emails and was following along with the daily bible readings when we last talked in april. I haven't heard from him yet.
<2022-05-26T06:04:17.000Z> GinNig: I may not have been getting any fight training, but I will tell you I did help a local orthodox celebrity kill and prepare his ducks. Are they the same? Not at all, getting popped in the mouth is not the same as learning to cut a duck's throat and plucking it. They're entirely non-sequiturs. However it's the only knew "skill", as if I were getting good at it, I have picked up recently
<2022-05-26T09:53:42.000Z> SuperLutheran: I hear you man. Tbh in a situation like yours, maybe just fun sparring with buddies and watching YouTube videos on kickboxing might be the way to go.
<2022-05-26T09:55:14.000Z> SuperLutheran: But it is pretty cool if you've been going duck hunting - hunters make good warriors, and you're learning practical skills.
<2022-05-26T09:55:44.000Z> SuperLutheran: If we're ever in the same area, lemme know tho - I'll be happy to work with you on whatever you wanna learn.
<2022-05-26T09:56:09.000Z> SuperLutheran: This Anna, you like her?
<2022-05-26T16:23:01.000Z> GinNig: We weren't hunting, we were picking the ducks up and putting them in the "killing cone" to cut their throats. So A few of us got to experience killing ducks with our hands. That sounds really odd, with american sensibilities it seems psychotic, but frankly I'd rather the duck bleed out that try popping the heads off like my grandmother had to do with chickens back in the 50's. It certainly gives a new appreciation for food
<2022-05-26T16:33:08.000Z> GinNig: Anna is the only girl/woman I have loved that does not involve my penis. If I have loved anyone with an agape love, it is her. I try keeping my head away from romantic thoughts since they'd likely only hurt our relationship as it is.
<2022-05-26T16:36:52.000Z> GinNig: That said, I have been having those thoughts more frequently during this month and a half. I want to take care of and protect her.
<2022-05-26T17:15:30.000Z> SuperLutheran: That's a very husbandly thing to say tbh
<2022-05-26T17:15:42.000Z> SuperLutheran: Every man should feel that way about the woman he wants to take care of forever
<2022-05-26T17:50:05.000Z> GinNig: Maybe if I'm lucky it'll happen, there are certainly much worse women I've thrown myself at. But for now all I can do is wait and pray.
<2022-06-17T07:51:41.000Z> GinNig: Talked with my friend about the christianizing of the barbarian peoples tonight, and have realized that it's all a shounen anime plot line. Fighting means friendship. Simple as.
<2022-06-17T09:25:43.000Z> SuperLutheran: Yes!
