<2021-07-23T02:02:39.000Z> ColdOnesLite: So I was listening to TDS today, and they spent a good chunk of time saying that the entire story of Exodus was made up and there was no correlation between the Old Testament and Egyptian historical documents. Now I know these guys don't really know much about the Bible (regardless of their constant desire to comment on it). Is Exodus fictional? I know you're a busy guy so if you don't have time to get into, I totally understand. Thank you.
<2021-07-23T02:07:11.000Z> ColdOnesLite: If you want to listen to it they start talking about it at 34:55 in episode 722 of tds
<2021-07-23T02:07:28.000Z> ColdOnesLite: Episode 772****
<2021-07-23T03:47:42.000Z> SuperLutheran: biblearchaeology.org/research/exodus-from-egypt/3147-amenhotep-ii-and-the-historicity-of-the-exodus-pharaoh
<2021-07-23T03:48:08.000Z> SuperLutheran: Everything the Bible tells us happened actually happened.
<2021-07-23T03:49:04.000Z> SuperLutheran: The tds guys honestly haven't done any serious research, except when Mike uses biased sources and interprets everything through the lens of "how does this make joos look bad?"
<2021-07-23T03:50:07.000Z> SuperLutheran: But there's a reason archeologists in the near east often use the Bible as a reference guide. Skeptics denied David's existence until we found his tomb. They denied the Omride dynasty until we found the Moabite steles.
<2021-07-23T03:50:36.000Z> SuperLutheran: They found *foot after foot* of sulfur where Sodom was.
<2021-07-23T03:51:44.000Z> SuperLutheran: I heavily recommend Josh McDowell Evidence that Demands a Verdict, where he outlines a ton of the proof of the historicity of Scripture.
<2021-07-23T03:53:07.000Z> SuperLutheran: So yes, the Exodus happened and it is 100% historical. I see literally bo reason why Moses or whoever would make up a national origin story just to poop all over the Israelites and spend 5 books shaming them as awful people.
<2021-07-23T13:10:27.000Z> ColdOnesLite: Thank you for the detailed answer! Looks like I've got some reading to do. Yeah, it didn't sound right to me. I have a lot of respect for these guys and sometimes it seems like they're softening on their stance towards us Christians but then they just randomly go off on some rant about how the Bible is just made up and it drives me crazy. In any case, thanks for all the help, Super. You and Miles are doing great work.
<2022-03-27T15:33:25.000Z> ColdOnesLite: Well they did it. My nondenominational church brought up a female guest pastor and the main pastor said "there is no male or female in the kingdom of God" to justify it. I walked out. I'm furious. My wife thinks I am being ridiculous. How do I make her understand why this is bad?
<2022-03-27T20:07:21.000Z> SuperLutheran: That's a massive drag, man
<2022-03-27T20:08:17.000Z> SuperLutheran: It's easy to explain to your wife: God gives us instructions one who is to be a pastor, and how he should act.
<2022-03-27T20:08:36.000Z> SuperLutheran: If a church isn't following that, they're disobeying God
<2022-03-27T20:09:22.000Z> SuperLutheran: Simple question for her at that moment: do *you* want to be part of a church that's ignoring our Lord's rules?
<2022-03-27T20:09:53.000Z> SuperLutheran: Also btw what kind of church/denomination is the one you're going to?
<2022-03-27T20:12:24.000Z> ColdOnesLite: They describe themselves as "an evangelical Christian denomination of Anabaptist origins with Wesleyan and Pietist influences."
<2022-03-27T20:13:14.000Z> ColdOnesLite: Apart from the pastor saying some dumb things about ukraine then walking it back, this is the first time they've raised a red flag for me, maybe i've been missing it. It's making me doubt my ability to judge a church.
<2022-03-27T20:13:37.000Z> ColdOnesLite: It's a Missionary Church
<2022-03-27T20:17:45.000Z> SuperLutheran: As in, missionary alliance?
<2022-03-27T20:18:19.000Z> ColdOnesLite: mcusa.org/
<2022-03-27T20:18:45.000Z> SuperLutheran: Ah
<2022-03-27T20:18:49.000Z> ColdOnesLite: we started going here because my wife and her family all go
<2022-03-27T20:19:00.000Z> SuperLutheran: Big oof there
<2022-03-27T20:19:04.000Z> ColdOnesLite: yeah
<2022-03-27T20:19:37.000Z> SuperLutheran: Tbh just say you aren't going to anchurch where they disobey Scripture
<2022-03-27T20:20:45.000Z> ColdOnesLite: Is it worth arguing with the pastor over it? The fact that he felt the need to try and justify it by twisting that verse from Galatians, maybe he has some doubts about what he did? Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
<2022-03-27T20:22:16.000Z> SuperLutheran: Oh I'd definitely bring it up to him
<2022-03-27T20:23:02.000Z> SuperLutheran: If he's normally conservative, he ought to know his logic suddenly makes homosexuality and trannyism ok as well as worse things
<2022-03-27T20:24:00.000Z> ColdOnesLite: Exactly! That's what I was saying to my wife! This is the exact train of thought that leads to pride flags and tranny pastors. there is no difference, we've seen it happen to countless churches, they open the door and try to compromise with the world and everything goes to crap
<2022-11-18T13:43:08.000Z> ColdOnesLite: Hey Super, do you limit screen time with your kids? Does it help with behavior?
<2022-11-18T17:32:59.000Z> SuperLutheran: We try lol
<2022-11-18T17:34:29.000Z> SuperLutheran: Limiting screen time is good, but only if you replace it with something
<2022-11-18T17:34:46.000Z> SuperLutheran: Bored kids with no screentime means bored kids that lash out
<2022-11-18T19:01:03.000Z> ColdOnesLite: Yeah I was just wondering because I remember you saying you had some behavior issues with your older son. My firstborn son is also a bear and we've been considering just cutting out TV except as a treat.
<2022-11-18T19:01:56.000Z> ColdOnesLite: He keeps assaulting kids in his preschool and we're e kind of grasping at straws.
<2022-11-18T19:02:02.000Z> SuperLutheran: Well with my kid there's some neuro struggles
<2022-11-18T19:02:16.000Z> SuperLutheran: He has a delayed development problem we're working hard to overcome
<2022-11-18T19:02:32.000Z> SuperLutheran: It's one of the reasons we're homeschooling him tbh.
<2022-11-18T19:04:02.000Z> ColdOnesLite: That's really tough. We are going to homeschool as well. I am scared of the things public school will try to teach him.
