<2022-09-11T03:02:36.000Z> RedEyeBlues: Hey Jim. I sent you a super chat a few months ago asking about how you got into the Mayo clinic. Since you have a smaller follower count right now, I thought I'd try my luck again and hope you see my message. My Neurologist told me you basically have to be a sheik to get in.
<2022-09-11T03:02:53.000Z> RedEyeBlues: I'm in a similar situation as you.
<2022-09-11T03:04:11.000Z> RedEyeBlues: I have private insurance. I have a diagnosed condition, but the cause of some of my most serious symptoms are undiagnosed, and I have blood work that shows signs of an autoimmune disease. My dream would be to get into the general diagnostic department of the Mayo clinic. So far, I can't get in at all. Would you mind answering a few questions about how you got in? I'll try not to ask anything personal. I'd really appreciate it. I have been begging them to get me in for years.
<2022-09-11T03:20:08.000Z> Jim: I got in through luck and referral and because my case had bizarre aspects to it. I ended up having to go through a couple doctors from a more regional hospital to one in the cities to finally get enough interest to get me in. It also helped that I got in once before when I was much younger so I had experience there. That was a lot like this time. I had to see a bunch of different doctors that all couldn't pinpoint what the issue was until I finally got a referral from neurology at the U of M. Also just so you know it's hard as hell atm to get in anywhere. Even outside Mayo getting into specialists can take up to 6 months depending on what their field is. A bit of a nightmare to be honest. I was also lucky that this was just at the start of the pandemic so everything hadn't gotten so fucked up with scheduling like it is now.
<2022-09-11T05:30:07.000Z> RedEyeBlues: Thanks for replying, I know you probably get a lot of messages. Yeah, I've dealt with the insane wait times. I usually just call every day to see if they have had a cancellation.
<2022-09-11T05:34:59.000Z> RedEyeBlues: " until I finally got a referral from neurology at the U of M. " Did the doctor that referred you from there know the doctor at Mayo? Or do you think they just took it more seriously because of the school?
<2022-09-11T05:38:11.000Z> RedEyeBlues: I am trying to get into the one in Minnesota, too, even though I live in Arizona and we have a Mayo clinic here. They told me not to bother trying to get into the one here. I think the one you have there is bigger, so they can see more patients.
<2022-09-11T05:56:09.000Z> RedEyeBlues: Oh, also, was Neurology the only department you got an appointment with? If you got bounced around to more than one department, would you mind telling me any good doctor's names or contact info there? One idea that my primary care doctor had was to get all my specialists to send a referral directly to doctors at the clinic. My doctors are willing to do it, so if you have any names of helpful doctors at Mayo that I could send them to, if you wouldn't mind, I would really appreciate it. Sorry if that's asking too much.
<2022-09-11T05:57:43.000Z> RedEyeBlues: I know this is kind of a weird thing to be asking someone I don't know on the internet. But my Neurologist told me he has never had a single patient be able to get into Mayo. And he's one of the few doctors I've met who actually put in any effort to help patients.
<2022-09-11T05:59:33.000Z> RedEyeBlues: But then I heard you say that you got in even though you had private insurance.
<2022-09-11T06:01:04.000Z> RedEyeBlues: So apparently it's possible, just really hard.
<2022-09-11T06:03:04.000Z> RedEyeBlues: If the referrals don't work I might even just try going to the neurology clinic at U of M since that worked for you.
<2022-09-11T16:54:03.000Z> Jim: You might have insurance issues getting into an out of state hospital. Since I'm from MN it just makes it easier to see providers already in state. I myself ran into issues when they were discussing two different research hospitals out of state. My best advise if you feel its autoimmune would be to have your neurologist you are seeing or your primary refer you to a rheumatologist and an immunologist in network. They'll be able to run the blood tests you'll need to help pinpoint more what the particular issue is. Something that helped a lot for me were Immunoglobulins A/E/G/M testing, IGG subclass testing, T & B lymphocyte and NK cell profile testing and the Rheumatologist can run the tests to rule out specific autoimmune's which could help narrow it down.
<2022-09-11T20:38:59.000Z> RedEyeBlues: That's alright. I am mainly paying out of pocket now anyway. It wasn't until I started paying out of pocket and doing tests that a doctor friend recommended, but my insurance wouldn't pay for that, that they began finding things. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check and see if my Rheumatologist has done that test or not. And give it a try if they haven't. I've done almost every test under the sun, but they still don't know what autoimmune disorder I have. Just that I have markers that make them pretty sure it is autoimmune. I have pages of positive blood tests that are positive for weird issues they have found. And I have a very rare virus that I probably got while working in Africa since it is unheard of in the USA. The problem with my case is that it is so complicated that most doctors want to shove me off to someone else. That's why the good doctors I have really want to get me into Mayo. Let me know if you are able to remember or look up any doctors at Mayo that I could have mine send those referrals to. If not, I understand. I know it's hard getting anything done when your body is fighting an internal war. I used to run a business and travel worldwide, but now it's hard for me to get to the pharmacy. Thanks, either way. Btw, sorry to see that tranny fucked you over. It feels like we live in a never-ending high school for adults, not even high school. It's an elementary school. Kerfuffles(however it's spelled) is that kid that doesn't fit in, so they have to ruin the fun of anyone having a good time. Anyone says something Kerfuffles doesn't like, it tells the teacher, and you get a timeout or expelled. But instead of gold stars, they are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars. Social media really fucked the internet.
