<2022-07-05T21:04:48.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Hey, sorry if this is unexpected but I thought you could help me out with some biblical reading advice. So recently I tried to make an effort to begin practicing my faith again and I bought a king James Bible and just started reading from Genesis and began procrastinating about reading it. Do you have any advice on how to read it properly or in a way that will make me understand Christ's message better?
<2022-07-05T21:06:27.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: Good question! And I'm happy to hear that you want to read more.
<2022-07-05T21:06:41.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Thanks
<2022-07-05T21:09:08.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: First things first, I would pray, whenever, that God provides you His Spirit who will help you lean, understand, and apply Scripture. I would pray that you can be still and focus on the Word, and that you have patience with any passage don't fully understand.
<2022-07-05T21:11:57.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: I don't if you are using a reading plan, but you don't have to read chapter by chapter or try to get all of Scripture in one year. If all you can do to establish is small chunks of a passage, then do that because what is important is the actual reading of the Word and letting it transform your spirit.
<2022-07-05T21:12:09.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: *I don't know if....
<2022-07-05T21:13:27.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Gotcha. I don't actually have a reading plan nor thought about getting one.
<2022-07-05T21:14:01.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: If you are interested in Christ' central message, I would read Genesis up to Abraham, then move on to the Gospels, perhaps Mark and John, then to Romans and Galatians.
<2022-07-05T21:14:11.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: But you don't have to do that personally
<2022-07-05T21:14:58.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: Never skimp on context. That's how you get errors and eventually heresies.
<2022-07-05T21:16:08.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Ok great that sounds like a good plan.
<2022-07-05T21:16:41.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: If you struggle with a passage, pray, meditate on the truth that God is not defeated by our slowness to understand, then ask someone trustworthy you know is knowledgeable about the Bible.
<2022-07-05T21:16:53.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: Ganbatte and God bless! :02heart:
<2022-07-05T21:17:15.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Thanks man ❤️
<2022-07-05T21:17:37.000Z> Nirty_Digger: No homo
<2022-07-05T21:17:42.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: kek!
<2022-07-31T20:51:01.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Hey did you know Frosche is back?
<2022-07-31T20:51:07.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: yes
<2022-07-31T20:51:19.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: He wanted me to follow him earlier
<2022-07-31T20:51:36.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Oh ok he dm'd me just know
<2022-07-31T21:13:15.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Hey quick question. Is it ok to have a audiobook playing of the Bible as your reading? I have never been a good reader and I struggle to muscle through multiple passages.
<2022-07-31T21:15:38.000Z> Nirty_Digger: This could be me being paranoid but I have always been cautious about disrespecting the Bible in some way. Like accidentally bending a page or leaving something on top of it. It's just a tick I've always had.
<2022-07-31T21:21:53.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: Yes, it's okay to have an audiobook.
<2022-07-31T21:22:20.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Ok thanks
<2022-07-31T21:23:17.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: You shouldn't worry about disrespecting the physical book. It's a nice gesture, but it's not a moral law, like disrespecting and unheeding the spiritual words shown on the physical thing
<2022-08-22T03:30:10.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Sorry to hear about your break up. If you need to vent you can always just reach out to me.
<2022-08-22T03:30:21.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: Thanks
<2022-08-22T03:33:12.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: It hurts because she and I helped each other spiritually and stuck with me for a good chunk of this debilitating illness. She said a few months she eagerly wanted to move forward, but recently she claims to not feel the Holy Spirit approve of us together.
<2022-08-22T03:33:59.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: I can't keep doing this back and forth with her. It's emotionally draining when I have to fight the desire to wallow in depression.
<2022-08-22T03:37:23.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Yeah that's kinda how women are in general. Not knowing what they want or always going back and forth. I can't really give advice concerning women as Im just as confused on dealing with them.
<2022-08-22T03:39:53.000Z> Nirty_Digger: I'll put in a prayer for you tonight
<2022-08-22T03:40:19.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: She's a basket case herself, and she sees me as one her few anchors of sanity in her own extremely turbulent world, which is why she emphatic of persevering an active friendship.
<2022-08-22T03:40:24.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: Thank you!
<2022-08-22T03:44:38.000Z> Nirty_Digger: I learned the hard way that tethering your sanity to your girlfriend doesn't end up well.
<2022-08-22T03:46:48.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: I certainly don't, but she can't rely on me in my weakness. I can't be her savior, and I don't know how to express that without causing her harm.
<2022-08-22T03:52:59.000Z> Nirty_Digger: Oh. Honestly I'm at a loss to respond. She seems to be as religious as you are so maybe have a scheduled meeting with a priest or something.
<2022-08-22T03:57:01.000Z> Nirty_Digger: But if she's going to keep treating you this way giving your condition, it's probably best to just walk away regardless of her feelings.
<2022-08-22T03:58:07.000Z> SuperSnekFriend: Because I am Reformed and she is Catholic, I don't want to show ecumenicism by meeting her priest if she is not willing to do her part in the relationship.
