<2021-08-06T05:06:31.000Z> heidegger14: Hey bro, I figured you're the best guy to ask. I'm drafting an article for the American Sun about vaccine hyperpolarization and I can't seem to find the study that showed vaccine ineffectiveness. It's the one where 14 vaxxed people and 15 unvaxxed got Covid. Would you happen to have the link to that? It's probably been shoah'd everywhere

<2021-08-21T00:04:57.000Z> MechaSilvio: as for the domain, this is a grey territory. Theoretically, you need to use real identity to buy one. No one really checks tho. So a domain can be acquired with fake name. Only drawback is...if there is a dispute for the domain name, you're kinda done. But for Samizdat purposes it's fine. Lose domain get excited for next domain
<2021-08-21T01:48:26.000Z> heidegger14: Thanks for doing all that research man! I saw you mention (((wordpress))) in your reply to Hunter. <2022-01-15T12:49:34.000Z> MechaSilvio: I finally made some time for the overpromised and underdelivered Language Learning article for TPS!
<2022-01-15T12:50:01.000Z> MechaSilvio: DIY - Learn a Language - Issue 1(gigachad_learning.jpg)If you ever go to Central/Eastern Europe, you will find this phenomenon of people knowing and being competent in several languages: their native one, plus English, plus a bit of Italian/Spanish/French, some other language from the area, or maybe Russian. Maybe it is because the borders were in flux for hundreds of years, or the result of being under different empires, or the more modern need to hustle tourists and travellers.Another similar phenomenon is the overrepresentation of certain tribe in all forms of language learning, from formal academia to experimental ways of learning, to YouTube "polyglots". One could conclude that knowing several languages gave them an edge in their merchant activities and probably allowed them to influence other nations and peoples.(soyjak_mad.jpg)"I'm American and speak American, I do not need no peasant language"Perhaps, perhaps. It's the curse of the Lingua Anglia. The omnipresence of English is, in a way, a curse onto the whole world. There are many reasons to learn another language:- There are some signs it benefits the brain and mind, and could prevent or delay neurological conditions like Alzheimer- Consooooooming non-American, non/less-Jewish content and entertainment. Yes, subtitles exist, but there's a different flavor when you understand what's happening without reading. Also there is more niche content that won't have subs, or audio only shows, etc.- Maybe there's another country you want to experience, or another career, or monitor the news from other areas.- Or what about becoming useful for the cartels once they take over big chunks of the US and defy the gay nerds in the American government? If you want to be a part of that, you might want to have a perfect Spanish. It's going to be easier to be "El Gringo" and climb the gang ladder if you talk like a Spanish movie star than if you speak some broken half assed high school class Spanish.- Two is better than one, and it's also fun.(soyjak_mad.jpg)"I'm not convinced, but if I was what would I have to do?"Having learned a language up to fluency in the traditional way plus consuming lots of content on my own and being in the process of learning another one just using non-traditional methods, I'll make a base set of recommendations:Ditch the apps. Apps suck so much. At best you can use some to harvest some words and sentences, but their methods are usually pretty bad. It's better than nothing, I guess, but you won't reach fluency in a million years.Ditch all traditional books that you'd have to use in a language class. These books also suck so much, because they have nothing interesting for you. All the material in there will be inocuous or very generic, so you will get no drive. The better way of learning is trying to replicate how we learn our native language: just consooooooooming it. Some linguists insist you don't "learn" a language, you just "acquire" it, because when you're fluent you're not putting too much thinking on forming the sentences, they just come out naturally. How did you learn English? Basically your mom talked to you in a very basic way and repeated things thousands of times until your brain automatically starts recognizing how things work, it was almost effortlessly. In fact, you were fluent in English as a 4 year old probably even before you could read or write more than a few words (and, of course, limited to simple concepts). The idea is replicating this same process, but at will. Ignore almost all reading/writing and focus on listening (video and audio). Also ignore almost all "producing" in the target language and focus on "consuming", exactly like a baby would (takes them years to produce stuff in the language). But because we're adults and kinda smart, we can trick our brains to speed up the process. You're gonna need a few things:Most Frequent 1,000 words in the target language and a Spaced Repetition Software (Anki is the one everyone uses): this software allows you to make "cards" for the words and go through a set of them every day to create a mental dictionary. These cards will link the word in the target language, an image, the word's sound, the translation, the spelling. How it works is, for each word you get three cards, one will just show you an image and you gotta say the word. One will show you the written word and you will have to picture what it is. The last one will just play the sound and you have to spell the word. I know I said "ignore writing/reading", but I just meant "do not try to read or write full sentences or paragraphs".A very basic book of grammar rules you can skim through. My best examples of this are Russian Accelerator or Tae Kim Guide to Japanese. You might want to go through them very lightly as you learn the most common words, so you can get familiar with some of the structure. Some also give you good advice, like Russian Accelerator talking about Super Literal Translations (learn what expressions mean in the target language itself, do not just translate as "ok, this means hello").Content: you will need a ton of content you're interested in that's in the target language. Start watching and listening, it doesn't matter if you don't understand anything at first, just get familiar with what it sounds like. Also you can use subtitles, as it will help you link sounds and words you've learned. Anime, movies, shows, podcasts (harder but not impossible).I'm going to finish this issue here, hoping I've caught your interest into learning a language. If there is interest, I'll post in the next issue an Anki card template with the most optimal way to review cards for words (I just have to tweak mine a bit so it's different enough I don't ruin my OPSEC over it).In the meantime, I recommend you checking a few videos about Active + Passive immersion and some other videos of people that learned the language you want to learn. As for inspiration:These guys self taught themselves Japanese and developed almost perfect pitch accent, something very difficult for most Westerners that learn weeb youtube.com/watch?v=E7Pcpi5kr3cIf this nerd could learn Arabic (a Level 5 difficulty language) in 2200 hours, so can you a better language youtube.com/watch?v=illApgaLgGASee you soon!
