<2021-07-16T10:08:01.000Z> KashKustomer: You ok fren?
<2021-07-16T10:08:25.000Z> KashKustomer: I um specialize in rough times 😁
<2021-09-18T20:48:06.000Z> KashKustomer: What do you think, mahogany? https://img.poast.org/2e79317a5254f8f3d7cf982a9d6a9650d94cae3867d46de01bee764add9bc6d0.jpg
<2021-09-18T20:48:58.000Z> WoodshopHandman: certainly looks like it
<2021-09-18T20:50:16.000Z> KashKustomer: Something without glare on it https://img.poast.org/8a214bedd129ab92d94f4559f3a6c230ac8d69110a90ebd426a55852e5a19c29.jpg
<2021-09-18T20:51:23.000Z> KashKustomer: Rescued from my Roscoe Jones esque day job, be awful tempting to repurpose...
<2021-09-18T20:51:32.000Z> WoodshopHandman: Yeah those pores definitely look like mahogany. Wouldn't be able to tell you what type jus through pictures though
<2021-09-18T20:52:39.000Z> KashKustomer: Or refinish & sell? I dunno much about flipping furniture but it's complete an no cracks etc https://img.poast.org/b5aeb495b8cad2779a3ef44397d5df327969e138ca28e43bc9b559ac1f346591.jpg
<2021-09-18T20:57:21.000Z> WoodshopHandman: I mean, because it's a staggered panel like that, it's not like you can really make too great of use of it as raw stock or anything. I'd definitely resurface it or even just sand it down at least and if you don't want it I'm sure someone will pay for it if you post it on craigslist or w/e
<2021-09-19T17:01:47.000Z> KashKustomer: Yeah, it's butcher blocked kinda stuff mostly.
<2021-09-19T17:03:23.000Z> KashKustomer: But then...so was this. https://img.poast.org/6cb9122ded14558230e05e1889c7046d840a3add36224eddea975b93f5f9e2ce.jpg
<2021-09-19T17:27:55.000Z> WoodshopHandman: Yeah but that's a slightly different sort of panel structure. You don't have that end-grain to end-grain jointing in the guitar body
<2021-09-19T17:46:16.000Z> KashKustomer: True, but tbh I'm not entirely sure that would be a big factor. It's 3/4", so I'd have to "pancake" it to get to a 1 1/2" thick SG body, and I'd make sure there was overlap, sort of like how one lays bricks.
<2021-09-19T17:49:37.000Z> WoodshopHandman: I just don't know how a flat (not finger-jointed) end grain connection would do for acoustics. I don't know how much that matters, since I've never built an instrument before.
<2021-09-23T00:23:09.000Z> KashKustomer: I haven't seen it done, I'm going to just leave it as a table. Be kinda shitty to carve it up only to find out it won't hold the string tension. Probably would work though, if you look up a 'scarf joint guitar neck' the tilted back headstock ends up glued to the end grain and it's a flat joint
<2021-09-23T00:23:39.000Z> KashKustomer: You should look up 'carving a Les Paul top' sometime, total wood porn
