<2022-04-19T19:12:46.000Z> KyotoSong: What's up man
<2022-04-19T19:15:33.000Z> KyotoSong: I am back from the dead after Kristallnacht guys here performed on me after I have revealed my origin and citizenship haha.
<2022-04-19T19:16:50.000Z> Jiub: uh oh!
<2022-04-19T19:17:16.000Z> KyotoSong: Yeah. Expectedly enough)
<2022-04-19T19:18:06.000Z> KyotoSong: Happy Easter btw if you celebrate
<2022-04-19T19:25:20.000Z> KyotoSong: I showed Gargoyle to my friends and most of them kinda disliked it unfortunately. I personally think they play good stuff and guys vocals are absolutely dope. It makes them completely different from western analogies (which mostly utilize high pitch).
<2022-04-19T19:30:20.000Z> KyotoSong: Frankly speaking since I've discovered Japanese scene through your RFIs (starting with Blood Stain Child and MergingMoon), there were hardly times when I was disappointed.
<2022-04-19T19:33:21.000Z> KyotoSong: Also really liked Matenrou Opera
<2022-04-19T19:34:47.000Z> Jiub: yeah, they're pretty sick
<2022-04-19T19:35:02.000Z> Jiub: I think the next one's going to be more normal metal stuff
<2022-04-22T04:52:52.000Z> KyotoSong: what's up man what are the chances you will record an RFI episode on obscure death metal bands (like Polish Ghost, French Catacomb and likes) ? I've found about them through MUYF and they are great.
<2022-04-22T05:56:32.000Z> Jiub: Polish Ghost is definitely going to be a thing. This week is going to be Baphomet and Gutted, and I've got the next Japanese episode in planning stages, and another black metal-ish one after that as well, but I'm definitely going to do a Ghost episode at some point because I love that album so much. Catacomb might be a little trickier since there's not as much material, might be part of a larger French episode with Mercyless and Loudblast or something like that.
<2022-04-22T07:36:29.000Z> KyotoSong: Wow, sounds cool. Keep it up. Much appreciated.
<2022-04-24T07:31:14.000Z> KyotoSong: Btw, the guy from Tearstained (Mikael Bayusik), you know the band which criticizes a nigger culture in America in some of their songs. So he is running the 80s Metal Obsessed radio show. He has some interesting gems there but is highly limited by the very decade. That's why I love MUYF and RFIs more. You guys have a much better taste in stuff.
<2022-04-26T17:14:10.000Z> KyotoSong: What about Alcest? Do you like them? I remember attending their show - that was kind of magical, spiritual experience. The first time they've arrived here they have played in a small club so I was among the hundred who have managed and had a privilege to see them.
<2022-04-26T22:23:03.000Z> Jiub: I couldn't ever do Alcest, most of the shoegazey black metal stuff doesn't do it for me. Sorry
<2022-04-27T13:25:48.000Z> KyotoSong: That's ok. Matter of taste I suppose. I actually mostly like songs when they go extreme singing and blastbeats. That's why their first albums are best in my opinion.
<2022-04-27T13:30:05.000Z> KyotoSong: And French scene in general ? You know starting with Les Legions Noires and up until now (though I really dislike Deathspell Omega shit and others playing that dissonant wankary).
<2022-04-27T13:31:08.000Z> KyotoSong: Oh, by the way, did you know Neige from Alcest absolutely loves Drudkh and even had a small project with Roman.
<2022-04-27T13:55:02.000Z> Jiub: I love Mütiilation and Vlad Tepes, not as into Belkètre and the rest. I also like Kristallnacht and Osculum Infame a lot. There's a newer black metal band from there called Catacombes that's really good but I never see them mentioned. Not be confused with the great death metal band Catacombs, of course. Speaking of that, death metal from there is heavily underrated. Massacra, Supuration, Agressor, Loudblast, Merciless, and Misanthrope are all really cool. And yes, Deathspell Omega sucks.
<2022-04-27T13:55:59.000Z> Jiub: Also Sortilège from back in the '80s played really cool power metal type stuff, very unique band.
<2022-04-27T14:41:35.000Z> KyotoSong: Yes sir you know your French metal man.Sortilège are legends. Real cult metal.
<2022-04-27T14:42:40.000Z> KyotoSong: I also like Kristallnacht. Em, musically. Wait are
<2022-04-27T14:43:02.000Z> KyotoSong: Wait Malefice are also French. They are great
<2022-04-27T14:45:42.000Z> Jiub: Oh yeah, Maléfice!
<2022-04-27T14:45:55.000Z> Jiub: They're the best, that new album was wild
<2022-04-27T14:46:16.000Z> Jiub: One of the only Summoning-influenced bands that did something really original
<2022-04-27T14:46:54.000Z> KyotoSong: They're kind of hard to find on torrents at least
<2022-04-27T14:48:19.000Z> Jiub: I actually managed to buy their last album, I think I got it through Darker Than Black or W.T.C. or Klaxon or something like that. Can't remember
<2022-04-27T14:48:56.000Z> Jiub: let a brother know if you need their stuff, I have the three full-lengths and the debut EP
<2022-04-27T14:51:57.000Z> KyotoSong: Okay, will inform ya.
<2022-04-27T14:52:49.000Z> KyotoSong: It would be odd for you to send NS stuff to Israel though 😆 and for me to receive.. oops
<2022-04-27T14:53:54.000Z> Jiub: oh no I just meant mp3s
<2022-04-27T14:59:49.000Z> KyotoSong: Oh the compressed files got ya. Nice. I'll what do I have. I think I have all of their full lengths, an ep and a split. If I'm not mistaken.
<2022-04-27T15:00:17.000Z> Jiub: oh gotcha
<2022-04-27T15:00:26.000Z> Jiub: yeah that's what I've got too
<2022-04-27T15:01:10.000Z> KyotoSong: 💪
<2022-04-27T15:02:46.000Z> KyotoSong: That's how you write good and sophisticated bm metal album. Well layered, melodic, memorable.
<2022-04-27T15:05:04.000Z> KyotoSong: Listening to them right now. I hear a clear influence of classical music (esp Griegg), war marches (or martial industrial)
<2022-04-27T17:57:51.000Z> KyotoSong: Have you heard a band Khora?
<2022-04-27T18:26:36.000Z> KyotoSong: The guy behind it is my army dude. We did a service together. Even then he was a remarkable drummer already
<2022-04-27T18:28:57.000Z> KyotoSong: Since he only progressed. He lives in Ireland now. He is highly influenced by Emperor and other symphoblack. I strongly recommend you his album. There are lots of stars who have helped him in recording.
<2022-04-29T05:49:00.000Z> KyotoSong: that's Malefice stuff I've got. If you need some - tell me. https://i.poastcdn.org/29723805447a60cb0cf5766a649275d0942074545dbf90a463a8f525caac8c4e.JPG
<2022-04-29T05:50:44.000Z> KyotoSong: and also this one:Walsung & Maléfice - Hyperborean Tales [split] (2018)
<2022-04-29T14:47:41.000Z> KyotoSong: I think we definitely need a Ningen Isu episode. Legendary asian band. How come you haven't managed to do them yet?
<2022-05-01T08:43:43.000Z> KyotoSong: I saw multiple poasts that say "anti anime=anti white". Now not that I am anti but never I never felt fascinated by anime (maybe because I never saw a good one yet). But can you explain me that statement ?
<2022-05-09T09:42:37.000Z> KyotoSong: youtu.be/38EQvsJzZWU
<2022-05-09T09:42:51.000Z> KyotoSong: This is so good
<2022-05-15T15:46:56.000Z> KyotoSong: Btw, on the band you played yesterday on MUYF -XopCC. Their name is written Cyrillic. It is Russian for Choir SS (yes the SS you thought it stands for a
<2022-05-15T15:51:00.000Z> KyotoSong: So basically they hint about their political ideology straight in their name.
<2022-05-15T15:52:03.000Z> KyotoSong: In English their name can be transcribed as "Khor SS"
<2022-05-15T20:39:14.000Z> Jiub: Thanks! I found out that it was stylized as XopCC, not XOPCC, so that helped me find a couple of their releases, but it's good to know what that band's actually called.
<2022-05-16T02:57:59.000Z> KyotoSong: Have you checked Akerfeldt's 'Clark' soundtrack?
<2022-05-16T02:58:20.000Z> KyotoSong: Do you like Opeth at all?
<2022-05-16T03:44:36.000Z> Jiub: I was into them way back when they were really big, around like Ghost Reveries era, but I kind of fell away from listening to them very often. Morningrise has some cool bassplaying on it, and I liked Mikael's contributions to Edge of Sanity and Katatonia, but I wouldn't say I'm really a huge fan.
<2022-05-16T05:19:19.000Z> KyotoSong: Yeah I was also sceptical about their newer material, but then gave full listen to 'In Cauda Venenum' album. Thought it was ok. Not more than that. An then out of the blue came this soundtrack which I felt in love with. Now I am listening to 'Pale Communion' album and man it is really good. Yep, that's a different incarnation of the band's sound, but you can clearly hear Mikael's genius in the stuff. Also it is recorded really organic and ear pleasing.
<2022-05-16T05:23:16.000Z> KyotoSong: Oh, to the Khor SS talking. Khors is a Slavic god of sun and light. There is Ukrainian band with that name (it features Jurgis which played on couple of NM albums).
<2022-05-16T05:24:14.000Z> KyotoSong: So I believe maybe guys from Khor SS wanted to play on these two meanings by naming a band this way.
<2022-05-16T06:03:44.000Z> Jiub: yeah Khors is great
<2022-05-16T06:03:51.000Z> Jiub: or at least the two albums of theirs I've got
<2022-05-16T06:04:19.000Z> Jiub: Flame of Eternity's Decline and especially Cold, I love the keyboards and the guitar tone
<2022-05-16T06:40:37.000Z> KyotoSong: Yeah they are good
<2022-05-16T06:56:06.000Z> KyotoSong: Btw, if there are any lyrics in Russian or Ukrainian you want to know what they are about feel free to ask. I really appreciate your RFI project and will be glad to assist.
<2022-05-16T06:58:24.000Z> Jiub: Thanks! I'll let you know
<2022-11-14T08:47:09.000Z> KyotoSong: What's up Jihyub?
<2022-11-14T08:48:07.000Z> KyotoSong: I can't recall what was the episode of RFI where you were talking about Julius Evola. Can you remember?
<2022-11-14T15:24:14.000Z> Jiub: hmmm, that's a tricky one
<2022-11-14T15:24:26.000Z> Jiub: I feel like I've mentioned him several times
<2022-11-14T15:25:29.000Z> Jiub: Might've been Ep. 33 about Italian black metal or 62 about Infamous.
<2022-11-14T20:00:09.000Z> KyotoSong: Yep, Italian bm makes sense.
<2022-11-14T20:00:32.000Z> KyotoSong: Thanks 👍
<2022-11-14T20:01:48.000Z> KyotoSong: Can I ask what are your thoughts on Russia-Ukraine war?
<2022-11-14T20:23:20.000Z> Jiub: I'm mostly tired of reading about it. I think a lot of people are attaching themselves to certain sides of it emotionally in a way that doesn't make sense. A lot of the American far right people are all in for Russia just because they see NATO as gay, and the American left are for Ukraine which is really weird given the Azov stuff, but nothing really makes any sense. I feel like it'd be pretty shitty to be a Ukrainian right now.
<2022-11-14T20:24:47.000Z> Jiub: I'm just kind of staying out of it since I don't feel like it's my war to fight.
<2022-11-14T20:25:22.000Z> Jiub: I feel bad for Ukraine though, it seems like they get screwed over a lot historically.
<2022-11-14T20:27:08.000Z> Jiub: I don't really bring that up with anyone else though, even the other guys I do shows with are all pro-Russia and I'm just like whatever. Seems odd to attach yourself emotionally to other countries' problems. It'd be nice if all the Slavs could get along.
<2022-11-14T21:47:44.000Z> KyotoSong: Actually I think that given you're an American, your position is very thoughtfulness
<2022-11-14T21:48:11.000Z> KyotoSong: *thoughtful
<2022-11-14T22:13:42.000Z> KyotoSong: As for Slav unity: most of the Russia are not even slavs and their mindset has much more to do with Mongolian dictatorship. They have a slave mentality. They don't care how shitty their life is as far as their ruler can cause damage to other countries. They never understood European Ukrainian values but rather want to bring corruption and indigence upon them. All Ukrainian history since 17th century, they have tried to avoid being under Russians. Because they knew perfectly what it means. Since the Empire Russian always tried to wipe out Ukrainian identity. Under communism it was taken to the extreme - Holodomor genocide is the notorious one but there were also arrests, exiles and terminal punishments for those who spoke Ukrainian language. And after Maidan Revolution in 2013 Putin just couldn't bear a nearside state which was part of the Soviet Union, but wants to leave all this shitty page behind. That's why he started a war in 2014 and then in 2022. But they failed big time. Russian army proven to be a bunch of cowardish alcoholics with no gear and no motivation. They only excelled in rocketing civilians. Here's a thing - I was born in the south of the country (Mykolayiv). Always spoke Russian, always thought that the Russian culture is superior, never really understood all those language laws when they came. But I do now. Now I see all this brainwash Russian was performing on all the countries surrounding it.
<2022-11-14T22:18:10.000Z> KyotoSong: I know many of your friends are obsessed with gay panic but hey most of the officials and popular showbiz personas in Russia are gay. So, basically all of their anti gay propaganda is hypocrisy.
<2022-11-14T22:22:33.000Z> Jiub: Yeah that's kind of what I picked up on from what I knew about Russian media.
<2022-12-01T19:03:06.000Z> KyotoSong: What are your thoughts on physical media? Do you manage your collection on discogs or something? Do you buy vinyls?
<2022-12-01T19:04:29.000Z> Jiub: I've got a few vinyls, but I don't have a record player anymore, I just use them as posters. I have a LOT of CDs though. I just got a couple of Aion CDs in the mail yesterday.
<2022-12-01T19:14:19.000Z> KyotoSong: Can you live with that tiny artwork that comes with CDs? I mean there are several really legendary artworks with lots of interesting elements (f.e. Somewhere in Time by Maiden). I have it on CD and I literally need a magnifier to see it and read lyrics.
<2022-12-02T13:09:37.000Z> KyotoSong: Some Ukrainian patriotic stuff for you. It contains a main folk melody, Stolny Grad kind of rapping and a really stunning graphics. Hope you like it.
<2022-12-02T13:09:44.000Z> KyotoSong: youtu.be/mOOClonYKmc
<2022-12-03T15:16:48.000Z> KyotoSong: Care to share what you have in your CD collection?
<2022-12-03T18:22:09.000Z> Jiub: it's kinda tricky, there's a LOT of stuff
<2022-12-03T19:29:39.000Z> KyotoSong: You don't keep it as a list or on discogs?
<2022-12-04T11:17:44.000Z> KyotoSong: Anyways I believe you own 1-2 albums from all those bands you have covered on RFI.
<2022-12-07T14:10:57.000Z> KyotoSong: Really liked Necronomidol. Cool stuff. Thanks for the episode.
<2022-12-07T14:27:04.000Z> KyotoSong: Liked that on Tartaros episode you said they did for bm similar thing the Cripticus did for dm.
<2022-12-07T14:29:15.000Z> KyotoSong: Yet another dank obscure band.
<2022-12-07T16:19:08.000Z> Jiub: Yup, I like Crypticus a lot
<2022-12-07T16:19:30.000Z> Jiub: I've actually hung out with the guy behind that band quite a few times, interesting character
<2022-12-07T19:13:58.000Z> KyotoSong: Samhain was also good stuff
<2022-12-07T19:14:22.000Z> KyotoSong: I believe I heard them way back, but completely forgot
<2022-12-07T19:16:31.000Z> KyotoSong: It would be cool if you could make a couple of episodes about your favourite goth or deathrock bands. There is so many awesome ones. And don't forget to mention Edge of Sanity "Sacrificed" phenomenon 🙂
<2022-12-12T18:54:32.000Z> KyotoSong: Are there any other music podcasts you can recommend (whether on yt or anywhere else) ?
<2022-12-12T18:55:28.000Z> Jiub: Hellcast is pretty good but they don't do it very often: youtube.com/@HeavyMetalRelics/
<2022-12-12T19:10:17.000Z> KyotoSong: I remember you also mentioned Ken's death metal crypt on RFI. Is it still on ?
<2022-12-12T19:36:06.000Z> KyotoSong: Have you heard about White Dissident Radio? One of the buds here on poast does it.
<2022-12-12T19:47:03.000Z> KyotoSong: There's also this guy Goresmoker I just discovered on poast. He also shares great stuff.
<2022-12-12T20:35:27.000Z> Jiub: Yeah I've talked to Goresmoker and White Dissident a lot. I'm not sure what goes on on White Dissident Radio cause I don't really listen to podcasts. Ken's still around. He mostly uploads rips of old demo tapes: youtube.com/@KensDeathMetalCrypt
<2022-12-13T17:43:25.000Z> KyotoSong: Is this telegram group Crypt you're in somehow connected to Ken's?
<2022-12-13T18:14:30.000Z> Jiub: I'm not sure. I don't see anything on my end that says Crypt on it.
<2022-12-13T18:57:05.000Z> KyotoSong: Haha understood
<2022-12-22T12:51:17.000Z> KyotoSong: Man this Heretics Angel album with Before I Die in it is dope
<2022-12-22T12:51:54.000Z> KyotoSong: So many quite simple but working great tricks on it
<2022-12-22T12:53:26.000Z> KyotoSong: Heaving so much fun with it at work 🤘
<2022-12-22T16:40:18.000Z> Jiub: Yeah Heretic Angels is CLASSIC death metal, really good guitar playing
<2022-12-22T22:31:24.000Z> KyotoSong: And the other band Deathguy is also really impressive. Never heard that much tremolos in death metal. So cool.
<2023-01-12T12:55:24.000Z> KyotoSong: Is it just me or the last Drudkh album is complete shit?
<2023-01-12T15:42:39.000Z> Jiub: I actually haven't listened to it yet. I think the last one I really liked was Estrangement.
<2023-01-12T19:32:45.000Z> KyotoSong: Actually that's the first album by them I really dislike. Interestingly though I really loved Hate Forest release.
<2023-03-18T13:09:04.000Z> KyotoSong: Not as hardcore and underground as ATL but a laid back and melodic hip hop from Ukrainian side:
<2023-03-18T13:09:08.000Z> KyotoSong: youtu.be/_BvSQrIqVy8Not
<2023-04-22T15:20:45.000Z> KyotoSong: Hey man
<2023-04-22T15:21:05.000Z> KyotoSong: What's up. I hope it goes well.
<2023-04-22T15:23:49.000Z> KyotoSong: I wanted to ask which version of Castlevania you played on your yt channel? In general , please name some video games you like and recommend?
<2023-04-22T18:20:34.000Z> Jiub: That was Harmony of Dissonance. It was originally on the Gameboy Advance, but that version I was playing was on the Advance Collection on the PC. It's also got Aria of Sorrow which is another really good one and Circle of the Moon and Dracula X which aren't as good but worth playing.
<2023-04-22T18:21:03.000Z> Jiub: Lately I've just been playing the first five Halo games a lot.
<2023-04-22T18:23:15.000Z> Jiub: Also the first two Serious Sam games. Those are pretty fun. It's like if you took an older FPS like Quake or something and then made a game with the same mechanics as something like Smash TV mixed with a bullet hell shooter. A lot of herding large groups of enemies while dodging a lot of shit.
<2023-04-24T07:05:39.000Z> KyotoSong: Cool. I remember Serious Sam from back then, but never played it. Will check out Castlevania for sure as well. Maybe wil try Halo but it never really fascinated me tbh.
<2023-04-24T07:06:48.000Z> KyotoSong: I sometimes play some Heroes of Might and Magic. Know this franchise?
<2023-04-24T07:22:14.000Z> Jiub: I haven't played the actual Heroes games but I watched a friend play Dark Messiah of Might and Magic a long time ago and it looked pretty cool
<2023-04-25T05:10:11.000Z> KyotoSong: do you use emulatar to play it or just buy it from Steam ?
<2023-04-25T05:52:17.000Z> Jiub: I actually own all the old cartridges, later onI did the emulators, even later I bought it from steam
<2023-04-25T05:52:31.000Z> Jiub: I might have an unhealthy Castlevania habit
<2023-04-25T10:08:05.000Z> KyotoSong: I had kinda similar syndrome with Commandos series)
<2023-04-25T10:08:42.000Z> KyotoSong: And Strike series (Desert/Jungle/Urban)
<2023-04-28T22:38:44.000Z> KyotoSong: There was a good deal on steam today so I bought it. Started to play, looks and feels really cool. Do you know is there a possibility to save your progress during the game ? I was killed after like 15 min and it made me start all over again.
<2023-04-28T22:39:02.000Z> Jiub: on Castlevania?
<2023-04-28T22:39:07.000Z> KyotoSong: Yes
<2023-04-28T22:39:34.000Z> Jiub: yeah, there's a menu that lets you do save states, let me run the game real quick so I can remember how to do it exactly
<2023-04-28T22:39:58.000Z> KyotoSong: Thanks man. Appreciated
<2023-04-28T22:40:51.000Z> Jiub: okay so for the advance collection, hit F1 on the keyboard and this will come up
<2023-04-28T22:40:54.000Z> Jiub attached file https://i.poastcdn.org/55e943647669070d23695748abe768c8eb033a0a4263f7bcc37ed93db0d6eabc.png
<2023-04-28T22:41:12.000Z> Jiub: on the classic collection, the button for that menu is 1 instead of F1
<2023-04-28T22:41:26.000Z> Jiub: I don't know why it's different in the two collections, fuckin Konami is silly
<2023-04-28T22:42:06.000Z> Jiub: also if you want a more hardcore experience, there are save rooms but they're usually spread out pretty far on the map
<2023-04-28T22:42:10.000Z> Jiub attached file https://i.poastcdn.org/454fcabe7986029b122d325ff05ec71c6e807fe3154b2fac90c16e9e14692078.png
<2023-04-28T22:42:26.000Z> Jiub: the ones in red are save rooms and the ones in yellow are warps
<2023-04-28T22:43:12.000Z> Jiub: that's for harmony of dissonance
<2023-04-28T22:43:20.000Z> Jiub: in aria of sorrow, it's the same basic concept
<2023-04-28T22:43:24.000Z> Jiub attached file https://i.poastcdn.org/6116cdf8391c72cc97d846fe482720d416395b62de6d13a035ae1ab3a4710fa6.png
<2023-04-28T22:43:49.000Z> Jiub: the save locations tend to be pretty far apart though so it's worth using the save state feature that comes with the collection if you get stuck
<2023-04-28T22:44:18.000Z> Jiub attached file https://i.poastcdn.org/66b24c8f0eed9912a62b3ba8812008b906b9b689698db4fd0477ac21015a9fec.png
<2023-04-28T22:44:27.000Z> Jiub: it'll let you do like ten and you can overwrite old ones
<2023-04-28T22:44:36.000Z> Jiub: it's pretty similar to an emulator
<2023-04-29T13:52:46.000Z> KyotoSong: wow man, thank a lot for such a detailed explanation. hugely appreciated. btw, what are your recommendations from the classic collection. I tried first belmont's revenge and frankly speaking it's somehow outdated graphics wise even in the world of old games. but hey, the music is fkn dope.
<2023-04-30T03:42:58.000Z> KyotoSong: Gameplay aside, I can say that I'm highly fascinated with the storyline and graphical design. I am planning to watch Netflix animated series based on tge game. Have you tried it? Is it any good? Is there other media you can recommend which is based on the games (comics/mangas, series etc) ?
<2023-04-30T08:07:33.000Z> Jiub: belmont's revenge is uh... not the best
<2023-04-30T08:07:44.000Z> Jiub: out of the classic collection, my favorites are III and IV
<2023-04-30T08:08:15.000Z> Jiub: I liked the animated series a lot actually, it was kind of an interesting re-imagining of the plot from Castlevania III and Curse of Darkness
<2023-04-30T08:09:15.000Z> Jiub: I don't know of any other adaptations of Castlevania itself, but the game's aesthetics were heavily influenced by Vampire Hunter D and the first Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure series, in addition to all the 1930s Bela Lugosi movies of course
<2023-04-30T10:35:32.000Z> KyotoSong: Yeah, those aesthetics are really something I can relate to. And now I understand why Jo Jo is among your fav mangas hehe. Never heard of Vamp Hunter before, will check out.
<2023-04-30T12:39:04.000Z> KyotoSong: Btw, if you use Spotify, then you can find there lots of games' soundtrack. It goes under the name Castlevania Sound Team.
<2023-04-30T12:39:24.000Z> KyotoSong attached file https://i.poastcdn.org/b9131e15aafcd06cdb1c0c3bd9cd3c0e7c65bdd72f313d224e36343c5b30db90.jpg
<2023-04-30T12:43:05.000Z> KyotoSong: Also, there are lots of really cool compilations of Castlevania metal covers on YT.
<2023-04-30T12:45:31.000Z> KyotoSong: youtu.be/rQsAxHHEHawyoutu.be/k2lKRktcD00youtu.be/XZm5oF-N9fYyoutu.be/CuGhBzktXg4
<2023-05-01T07:00:52.000Z> Jiub: Yeah, those are all pretty sick, I listen to them at the gym a lot, especially RichaadEB's versions of Bloody Tears and Vampire Killer.
<2023-05-01T07:02:54.000Z> Jiub: Michiru Yamane did the soundtracks for Bloodlines, Symphony of the Night, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Order of Ecclesia, and Portrait of Ruin, she's like the master of that kind of stuff. No one actually knows who did the soundtracks for the first three Castlevanias, it's pretty mysterious.
<2023-05-01T07:06:28.000Z> KyotoSong: Yeah, Castlevania scores are beautiful. Some of the music from the series would make even Ennio Morricone himself proud. Those strings just touch your heart.
<2023-05-01T07:07:03.000Z> Jiub: The stuff in Symphony of the Night is really progressive too, there's bits of jazz and symphonic metal and all kinds of stuff
<2023-05-01T07:38:04.000Z> KyotoSong: Listening to this right now in my car. Also really good. Practically all of the songs are great and touching. Composers did a really respectful job. https://i.poastcdn.org/dc41d45fb08f4753be33a176a7f1fbbfb2c91dd02e56f118fc073ec67dc2351e.jpg
<2023-05-01T07:46:34.000Z> KyotoSong: I found JoJo translated to russian on some pirate comix service. Will give it a try. I think it's up my alley. I am really grateful for all of your recommendations and your time. You are a really cool dude 😎, Anthony.
<2023-05-01T08:05:14.000Z> Jiub: I try my best!
<2023-05-01T08:05:42.000Z> Jiub: Be aware the art in the early Jo Jo issues is a little rough compared to how Araki developed his style later on.
<2023-05-01T08:18:08.000Z> KyotoSong: Thanks for forewarning
<2023-05-01T08:21:31.000Z> KyotoSong: Btw, I just met a Ukrainian guy who has barber shop businesses both here in Israel and Lviv, Ukraine. He has lots ties with Ukrainian black metal scene (Vargot, Roman Saenko and others). He buys a lot of their merch which is exclusive and can bring it here. If you're interested l can check what is available and once he brings it here, I can try to send it to you. Thought it might interest you.
<2023-05-01T08:24:09.000Z> KyotoSong: He is also right wing dude and even manages to get to the frontline of the battle. He does a lot of donation work in order to help Ukrainian soldiers.
<2023-05-01T14:38:04.000Z> KyotoSong: For some unexplained reason Castevania themes gave me a recall of this Russian Symphonic Black classic: youtu.be/-cOiN0a54bg
<2023-05-01T14:39:25.000Z> KyotoSong: Vocals are somewhat of an acquired taste, but you might find a music interesting.
<2023-05-04T12:34:39.000Z> KyotoSong: Do you like books about music, cover art and art in general ? I saw you have Mustaine's biography. That's cool. He is one of my like all time guitar heroes. I am planning to buy me a book of works by Christophe Szpajdel (he is painter behind like 10K logos for metal bands). Beksinski's complete works in 4 volumes and Giger sound interesting as well. Also, I bought Iron Maiden - Album by Album to get my kid in Maiden. It has lots of monsters, so I hope he will like it. Are you into some kind of such books?
<2023-05-04T13:52:42.000Z> Jiub: I own a few biographies of some metal guys, got Max Cavalera's, Tony Iommi's, Dave Mustaine's off the top of my head. I have a bunch of Giger books for sure.
<2023-05-04T15:07:40.000Z> KyotoSong: Nice. Recently I stopped caring about Cavalera because of his political stupidity/hypocrisy, but back in the day he used to be a cool, innovative guy.
<2023-05-04T15:08:17.000Z> KyotoSong: What Giger books do you have? Is he your fav artist?
<2023-05-04T15:33:28.000Z> Jiub: Yeah Cavalera's kind of a wiener but I like the old stuff obviously
<2023-05-04T15:35:38.000Z> Jiub: For Giger, I have the Taschen portfolio that I cut the pictures out of and had them framed up in my living room, and also the Taschen 25th Anniversary that's like a big hardcover coffee table book. He's definitely one of my favorite artists.
<2023-05-04T15:38:47.000Z> Jiub attached file https://i.poastcdn.org/65c0c36c0181dae8d7b58bca65c6c42eb60bac4eb4f0128a40845a410c8ce800.png
<2023-05-04T15:38:53.000Z> Jiub: those are the four I have up
<2023-05-04T16:52:07.000Z> KyotoSong: Looks good. Cutting from the book isn't something I think I would do myself. But to each his own.
<2023-05-04T17:05:04.000Z> Jiub: That one wasn't reallu like a book, it was a big thing of paintings that had perforated lines that you could pull the pictures out form.
<2023-05-04T17:44:13.000Z> KyotoSong: Oh, I see.
<2023-05-04T17:49:26.000Z> KyotoSong: What about you know regular books like fiction, horror, historical novels? You buy them in paper or use kindle/audio? I started using audiobooks like 6 years ago. It has advantage that you can listen while say driving or walking, but on the other hand you can't pair it with music or smth else.
<2023-05-04T17:53:58.000Z> Jiub: I usually just do regular paper books. Got a lot of late 19th/early 20th century stuff like Lovecraft, William Hope Hodgson, Lord Dunsany, Arthur Machen, Robert E Howard, that kind of stuff. Some newer stuff too like Michael Moorcock. I've got a bunch of ancient stuff too from when I was a Classics major in college, so all the Plutarch, Homer, Sophocles, Virgil... that kind of thing. I used to be really into philosophy so there's a lot of Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, and Evola, but I don't really read as much of that anymore. Got a lot of books on mythological stuff too, mostly Norse and Japanese.
<2023-05-04T19:57:34.000Z> KyotoSong: Sounds amazing. What do you do for a living that you have time for such many hobbies?
<2023-05-04T20:10:08.000Z> Jiub: Got an office job, financial stuff. Used to be a teacher but it didn't pay well.
<2023-05-04T20:18:50.000Z> KyotoSong: Oh, I do something similar. Work as an economist and financial analyst for last 6 years.
<2023-05-05T11:08:58.000Z> KyotoSong: I think you were discussing Beksinski on one of the HB/BLFC episodes. It was great to hear people outside Europe know this remarkable Polish artist. His vivid depressing, apocalyptic style really speaks to me. And when I read about his personal life and struggles it has just completed the puzzle.
<2023-05-05T16:27:20.000Z> Jiub: Yeah he did a lot of good stuff. I got familiar with him through Ashdautas and Ice Ages using his paintings for album covers. There's another artist named Mariusz Lewandowski that does stuff influenced by Beksinski that's also worth checking out.
<2023-05-05T19:16:27.000Z> KyotoSong: I know Lewandowski of course. I like his well known works which were used by Abigail Williams, Atlantean Kodex, Bell Witch, Obituary an Psycroptic.

<2023-05-06T09:30:07.000Z> KyotoSong: Kind of reminded me about one of the first RFI episodes where you were talking about modes.
<2023-05-09T18:11:32.000Z> KyotoSong: Hi. I made a tracklist of MUYF ep 31 doom metal. I saw there was no list so I just had fun. <2023-05-10T06:54:53.000Z> KyotoSong: Bro sent me

<2023-05-14T08:05:21.000Z> KyotoSong: I give a listen to some old episodes of MUYF lately. I liked your pick of German Ulfhethnar. Quite primitive, but really cool stuff.
<2023-05-14T08:07:34.000Z> KyotoSong: I also get into Gwar. Never actually cared about em thinking they are more of image than music. But I changed my opinion after hearing "Horror of Yig".
<2023-05-19T12:56:00.000Z> KyotoSong: Do you know people on poa.st who post mostly music like yourself, Goresmoker or Turkleton? Btw, some of your MUYF dudes are on poa.st too, right? Like rb and eee.
<2023-05-22T16:05:48.000Z> KyotoSong: Is that something new or only me that I can't scroll up to the very start of our conversation? It stops on your message about Michiru Yamane and I can't manage to go to the earpier ones..
<2023-05-22T16:06:11.000Z> Jiub: Yeah, it might not save the older ones
<2023-05-22T16:31:29.000Z> KyotoSong: sucks. It happens that i would not remember some of your recommendations.
<2023-05-22T16:59:39.000Z> KyotoSong: btw, I did a little google on horror films and found out there are some great retrospective compilations that feature most of classic era Hollywood horror films (one is Hammer Film Productions and the other is Universal Classic Monsters). Probably gonna be something I would be up to when I have time.
<2023-05-23T10:36:39.000Z> KyotoSong: Oh, and excuse me if I bother you with my messages. I just feel we share a lot of interests and your recommendations are highly valuable . You are a quality lad.
<2023-05-23T15:50:20.000Z> Jiub: You're fine, I just don't always have time to read everything!
<2023-05-23T16:34:19.000Z> KyotoSong: I'm sure you don't. With that level of analysis and detalization you achieve on your last RFI episodes it probably takes loads of time.
