<2021-06-04T03:39:52.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: I have been wanting to do a Planescape Torment episode of NIGR for a while but would need the right guest as Louis hasn't played it. Are you interested?
<2021-06-04T03:41:17.000Z> AnonymousBosch: Lemme think about it. I'm really busy with taking care of my father in law while he does chemo at my house, and don't have tons of free time (or even a free room in my house to do such a thing).
<2021-06-04T03:41:48.000Z> AnonymousBosch: I would *love* to do. Logistics is my issue.
<2021-06-04T03:42:08.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: No worries man. And no rush either. Can do whenever, months from now if need be
<2021-06-04T03:42:16.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: Sorry to hear about your FIL
<2021-06-04T03:42:59.000Z> AnonymousBosch: It's been rough, but he's handling chemo better this month. Appreciate prayers/wellwishes. Lemme talk to the wife and maybe we can swing something end of June or July
<2021-06-04T03:43:48.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: Take your time. Family first!
<2021-06-04T03:44:27.000Z> AnonymousBosch: Thanks, bro. Appreciate the offer, it means a lot!
<2021-06-04T03:45:06.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: You have great taste in classic games lol. Another older millennial type with your experience would make a great addition
<2021-06-04T03:49:47.000Z> AnonymousBosch: I'd be happy to join up from time to time- just gotta make it work with life.
<2021-06-12T02:27:39.000Z> AnonymousBosch: Would you want to do a Torment podcast with Louis sometime in the last week of June?
<2021-06-12T03:55:29.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: Definitely sometime, soon is good, can't commit yet though because waifu is due for #2 any day now
<2021-06-12T03:55:39.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: In general though hell yeah
<2021-06-12T04:01:16.000Z> AnonymousBosch: Excellent! And bless you on the second child, you'll both be in my prayers. I'm happy to work something out in the next two weeks if that's more feasible.
<2021-06-12T04:01:35.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: Thanks man. Is your FIL doing any better?
<2021-06-12T04:02:31.000Z> AnonymousBosch: He has upgraded from walker to cane, which is good. Able to go on walks now.
<2021-06-12T04:02:38.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: Awesome
<2021-06-12T04:02:56.000Z> AnonymousBosch: He can also drive himself to appointments now, so I have more daytime-freedom if you are ever able to do recording during then.
<2021-06-12T04:03:25.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: Yes we pretty much exclusively record during the day
<2021-06-12T04:05:42.000Z> AnonymousBosch: Excellent. I can probably even record with you from my office chair at work then since students are gone for the summer.
<2021-06-12T04:06:47.000Z> AnonymousBosch: I spent most of the schoolyear on poast anyways...
<2022-05-15T18:49:25.000Z> AnonymousBosch: DK, the uni where I'm teaching is wanting me to do a "Philosophy of Religion" elective in the fall instead of my usual Intro to Religions course, and I'm wanting to incorporate some more source texts into the class instead of just an academic overview of major world faiths and their history/society/etc: as the resident expert, what parts of the Pali Canon do you think would be good for college sophomores and juniors to look at? I was looking at the Abhidhamma Pitaka, particularly the Dhammasanganī, Vibhanga, and some of the Kathāvatthu to look at points of theology and their relationship to wider philosophical concepts. I want them to approach the text authentically, and I want to make sure these are text that an actual practitioner would support. If you've got some time or some recommendations, I'm all ears.
<2022-05-17T02:18:25.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: very cool
<2022-05-17T02:18:39.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: I had a big long response typed out but it got eaten by an accidental page refresh lol
<2022-05-17T02:19:02.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: anyway for Pali Canon stuff I would mainly recommend the Milindapanha. if you aren't limited to Pali I could also recommend a bunch of Mahayana stuff
<2022-05-17T02:19:40.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: if you want to look at Abhidharma I'd recommend the Abhidharmakosa rather than the source texts which are extremely difficult to read even for specialists
<2022-05-17T02:20:11.000Z> DK_Dharmaraj: (I mean the Kosa is itself a "source text" and primary literature in a sense but it's also a commentary)
<2022-05-17T12:48:03.000Z> AnonymousBosch: Ah, thanks for this! And any Mahayana sources you can give me would be great that you think would be accessible for undergrads.
