<2023-02-01T03:41:55.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Mate can you confirm if there is a more trad/less progressive branch if the Lutheran church in Australia and what it's called please?
<2023-02-01T04:24:42.000Z> Crux_Invictus: Funnily enough I asked my pastor if there were other Lutheran groups around yesterday. Apparently there are some independent Lutheran churches around but they're pretty small in number. I don't know if they're organised into a body like the LCA and I haven't been able to find any in my searching.
<2023-02-01T04:25:21.000Z> Crux_Invictus: Depending on what happens after synod we might see a competing body appear but that will be a few years away I think
<2023-02-01T04:27:26.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Thanks for this. I've been doing some (brief) reading and the core approach is no incompatible with my views, it was just happenstance that I scrolled past on church in particular that used some progressive type language so I thought I'd ask.
<2023-02-01T04:28:28.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: I will keep having a read. I also note that in this world it's be either a miracle or potentially a risky subterfuge to find somewhere with no accommodation of the way the world is!!
<2023-02-01T04:28:34.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Thanks again
<2023-02-01T04:30:33.000Z> Crux_Invictus: No worries, are you looking for a denom or?
<2023-02-01T04:31:41.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Yes
<2023-02-01T04:32:25.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: I was raised Catholic and as my children were growing up I tried, but I had some stuff happen to me when I was a child and I could not allow them in that environment
<2023-02-01T04:32:56.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Recently went to Presbyterian which seemed fine. Still don't know and don't want to jump in
<2023-02-01T04:34:04.000Z> Crux_Invictus: Are you looking for low-church/contemporary worship or something high-church like the RCC or Orthodox?
<2023-02-01T04:48:22.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Not contemporary, I guess high church then? But I'm aware that the people anywhere influence things etc. I feel some formality keeps us anchored in tradition, and I am suspicious of cults of personality. Orthodox is great - but I'm not greek.
<2023-02-01T04:48:42.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: I appreciate your help btw. Sincerely
<2023-02-01T04:50:08.000Z> Crux_Invictus: The Church of England is going through a bit of chaos at the moment with some more conservative churches forming their own diocese: scd.org.au/churches/
<2023-02-01T04:50:44.000Z> Crux_Invictus: But there's only a couple of churches in the diocese at the moment. So really location dependent.
<2023-02-01T04:53:15.000Z> Crux_Invictus: There's also the Australian Evangelical Lutheran Church which looks pretty traditional based on their statement of faith. But they're all in QLD from what I can see: aelc.org.au/?page_id=13
<2023-02-01T04:54:54.000Z> Crux_Invictus: Honestly I think your best bet will be to take a look at the churches in your area (or close enough that you're willing to drive to) and check out any sermon or service recordings they've got. Then if you find one you like set up a meeting with the Pastor and just explain to him what you're searching for.
<2023-02-01T04:56:48.000Z> Crux_Invictus: My working theory at the moment is the majority of churches in the big cities will be progressive subversive things. While the churches in regional Australia will be more traditional but very small and possibly failing.
<2023-02-01T04:58:49.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Because of my personal bias, and I'll wear that, CofE is out, sadly.
<2023-02-01T04:59:03.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Your last two messages. I actually have the same view
<2023-02-01T04:59:52.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: I like the idea of the more trad Lutheran church, but I need to also out a practical lens over it. Perhaps I get a bit idealistic when I try to find a way back lol
<2023-02-01T05:00:23.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: I'm broadly speaking in the Canberra region btw.
<2023-02-01T05:00:54.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: My name's Mick. Thanks for your time mate. I'll be doing some further reading this afternoon. God bless you.
<2023-02-01T05:03:30.000Z> Crux_Invictus: I believe St Peters in Reid is high church. The other Lutheran churches in Canberra do low church / contemporary worship from what I understand.
<2023-02-01T05:04:04.000Z> Crux_Invictus: I'll keep you in my prayers mate, may God lead you to your spiritual home soon
<2023-02-01T05:04:52.000Z> ProfessorBalls@eveningzoo.club: Thank you. He will
