<2022-09-13T09:35:46.000Z> ggf: I have some tengwar in the title page of my copy of End of the Third Age. It is the Sauron Defeated's 1st part only, it is from History of Lord of the rings 4 volume set.
<2022-09-13T09:35:51.000Z> ggf: I couldn't find translated online, only for Sauron Defeated's title page.
<2022-09-13T09:35:55.000Z> ggf: Any chance you'd like to take a crack at it?
<2022-09-13T09:36:14.000Z> ggf: It probably wouldn't be too hard since it is likely english just phonetically tengwar
<2022-09-13T09:36:33.000Z> ggf: For a person who doesn't get dyslexic looking at all those symbols
<2022-09-13T09:38:13.000Z> ConfederateHobo: Send a picture, I'll at least give it a look.
<2022-09-13T09:38:50.000Z> ggf: Thanks, one moment
<2022-09-13T09:42:05.000Z> ggf: imgur.com/a/gjjJsVX
<2022-09-13T09:42:58.000Z> ggf: This translates the title page for Sauron Defeated, but is wrong in that End of the Third Age has the same Tengwar tolkienbooks.net/php/home-contents.php#ixa
<2022-09-13T09:43:19.000Z> ggf: Or it could just be because I have an US copy.
<2022-09-13T10:03:55.000Z> ggf: Thanks for offering to take a peek, no biggie if you don't end up getting to it, I just appreciate you offering. If you need clearer photos or anything else just let me know.
<2022-09-13T10:08:56.000Z> ConfederateHobo: It's fine, lmao. It aligns with my hobbies so It's not really a bother. I'll likely get around to it on one of my days off. Most of my resources are on my computer.
<2022-10-18T07:35:34.000Z> ggf: Figured it was a good time to remind you/ask how it goes since it has been a bit over a month. I managed to finish all 12 of the History of Middle Earth and even The Nature of Middle Earth, though I can't say I read every page, you can only read slightly varying accounts of the same thing so many times, or read tables of population numbers so much, no matter how fanscinating it is he was so thorough and detailed in his universe building.
<2022-10-18T17:11:55.000Z> ConfederateHobo: Oh! I had sat down a couple weeks ago to look at them, but the photos were a little too blurry. I had completely forgot to ask for clearer ones 😅
<2022-10-18T19:07:12.000Z> ggf: Thanks for the attempt. I'm out of town, but in the next day or two I'll hopefully have some better, clearer, and closer shots for try 2.
<2022-10-21T22:54:36.000Z> ggf: I got a flatbed scanner and took some high res ones
<2022-10-21T22:54:39.000Z> ggf: files.catbox.moe/i5hac0.7z
<2022-10-21T22:57:30.000Z> ggf: This is a clarification as the between the pages a mark was looks ambigious i.imgur.com/NmngmKV.png
<2022-10-21T22:58:08.000Z> ggf: Also the tops of the pages were already translated in Sauron Defeated by tolkienbooks.net/php/home-contents.php#ixa as mentioned before
<2022-10-21T23:13:37.000Z> ggf: I just realized I am an idiot, the top and bottom of the pages have the same words.... and those were previously translated on Sauron Defeated
<2022-10-21T23:15:12.000Z> ggf: So the translation is likely just "In this book is traced first the story of the destruction of the One Ring and the downfall of Sauron at the end of the Third Age. " the first sentance of Sauron Defeated's tengwar
